Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved the setting up of the country's first hydrogen fuel-related industry in Jamshedpur. The initiative paved the way for the operation of hydrogen-fueled vehicles in addition to petrol, diesel, and battery.

After approval, M/s TCPL Green Energy Solutions Private Limited (TGESPL), a joint venture between M/s Tata Motors Limited and M/s Cummins Inc., USA, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up the unit. for production of hydrogen internal combustion engine, fuel agnostic engine, advanced battery chemistry, H2 fuel cells, and H2 fuel delivery systems at Jamshedpur, pending Single Window Clearance Committee and High-Performance Committee approval.

In this work, the latest technology of hydrogen engine manufacturing will be used which will benefit the entire country in the coming times.

As per the classified Sectorwise Mega Projects of Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy 2021, the above-mentioned project is related to construction. Based on investment received from the unit and direct employment, the unit has been categorized as mega.

The proposed capacity of this unit is 4000+ Hydrogen IC Engine / Fuel Agnostic Engines and 10000+ Battery Systems for which the proposed investment is Rs 354.28 crore. According to the estimate, the unit will employ more than 310 direct and indirect people.

Hydrogen is a fuel whose capacity is greater than that of other fuels. His energy label is high. It is cheap and light. In such a situation, it can be considered a better option between gasoline and diesel. Hydrogen fuel can go a long way in controlling pollution.

The creation of a production capacity of 4,000+ Hydrogen IC Engines/Fuel Agnostic Engines and 10,000+ Battery Systems will be supported to meet the needs of hydrogen engines in the Indian market and the global local industrial ecosystem to ensure essential requirements and establish new ancillary units.
